Wideback squaring nightmare!!

I'm completely stumped and so frustrated with this wideback fabric!! I pulled a thread and carefully cut along the channel, but the fabric still isn't square. When I lay it out, I'm getting crazy folds and it just looks stretched out of shape, exactly like before I even trimmed. Even doing the jiggle test with the selvedges, I'm still having to fight it to get a relaxed drop. If I trim again to make it lay flat, am I just completely mucking up any chance of it actually being square? Could this just be a bad length of fabric, or am I missing something huge here? I'd appreciate any suggestions!!

How are you supporting the fabric when you pull the thread and trim? If it's hanging or not fully flat, it can distort, try laying it fully flat, no tension, before trimming.

Make sure you've ironed it thoroughly.

Get a helper. Each of you grab opposite corners and lightly pull, on the bias. Then switch and do the opposite corners.

Fold fabric in half, see if it's straight now. If not, pull both corners again.

There's videos on YouTube on this procedure.

Hope that helps!
