Walking foot skipping stitches on flannel

Started working on a baby quilt using flannel and noticed my walking foot (on a Brother CS6000i) is skipping stitches every few inches. I've cleaned everything and changed the needle, but it still acts up when I hit thicker seams.Anyone found a trick to keep stitches consistent on layered flannel? any help is appreciated

Did you use a thicker needle? Also, when you're going over thicker seems, it's a good idea to slow things down a bit otherwise it will continue skipping.

Try pressing your seams open, to each side of the seam, rather than all to one side, to make the seam less bulky?
Make sure your bobbin is wound tightly and evenly, without any loops?

Also, there is a tool that raises the back of the presser foot to maintain even pressure. But if you are using the walking foot attachment with the big box on the back, that may not be able to use the foot leveler tool.
