Making a patchwork of wool clothes

I'm decluttering and thinking of remaking my 100% wool clothes. I know it's summer and we're all about the heat but I recently got into patchwork and wanna do some blankets for me. Question now is, should I felt them first with a hot wash and air dry, or just leave them as-is? Also, is there a specific kind of thread best for sewing wool together? Thanks in advance.

Felting first will give you a denser, sturdier fabric, and that's great for blankets, go for a hot wash and air dry then use polyester or wool blend thread for sewing, cotton threads can snap on wool

For stitching, a good polyester thread works best, it's strong and handles wool's stretch well. You planning to hand sew or use a machine?

Felt first definetly, machine stitching for the seams and hand stitching for the finer details. This is the best combo for this kind of project
